About Me
I teach flute, piano and music theory from my home in South Manchester
I graduated from The University of Manchester in 1999 with a Mus(Hons) and studied for a PGCE two years later.
More recently (2019), I completed a Masters in Musicology, also at the University of Manchester.

I have taught music in schools and privately from home for 20+ years.
My Services
I teach students of a variety of ages, from 5 to around 63 (I'm too polite to ask!) and cater for all abilities from beginner to advanced. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have completed several first aid and child welfare courses over the years.
Many people choose to work towards graded examinations . I am more than happy to assist you in achieving the best grades possible; I have many years of experience in preparing students in all grades for both ABRSM and Trinity exam boards. Others prefer to progress without taking any exams at all, focusing on alternative ambitions. Either approach is absolutely fine by me.
I also help to prepare students for GCSE and A-level examinations (both practical and theoretical elements) , graded theory exams, auditions for various music colleges and performance diplomas.
Flute Lessons
I teach all levels and abilities from beginner to graduate.
Lessons, whilst being energetic and fun, cover all aspects of musicianship and are designed to help you to develop an understanding of how the flute works with both your body and breath,. We will explore a variety of music, learning all about its background and what it means to us as performers and musicians.
Technical aspects of playing the flute, such as, technique, breath work, phrasing and articulation etc. are introduced from the beginning, enabling pupils to learn how to use their body, their mind and their feelings with their instrument. I have developed many tried and tested techniques to develop a sound technique and a strong, secure and adaptable tone.
Musical theory, interpretation and performance practice are incorporated to help create a strong understanding of how to bring music to life.
Piano Lessons
I teach piano from my home studio in south Manchester and have students ranging in age from 4 to around retirement age (I'm too polite to ask)..
My emphasis builds on the individual interests, strengths and requirements of the student. This means I develop a highly unique, personalised and adaptable style of teaching to each student who comes through my door.
